The person met in Christ during his student abroad…
I thank God who patiently waited for me to find Christ as my savior. It wasn’t until I was 30 years old that I met Jesus. In my late 20’s I was working in the clothing industry, happy and successful. However, I sometimes wondered myself: is my life for only earning money or getting married to the right person? I tried to understand what the true meaning of life was. Now I know that I was searching for a purpose, but I was not able to find the answer and lost heart in planning for the future. I decided to search for the answer by taking a long trip. I went to Canada, looking for some new experiences and wanting to find that piece that as missing deep in my heart.
In Canada, I met people who called themselves Christians. They took me to their church. At first I was skeptical about them because they were so nice to me. However, I had some wonderful times with those Christian friends and gradually my mind was opened to know that there was really something special in their hearts and genuine tears. Eventually I came to understand that there truly is a God who cares deeply about the lost like me. I realized that Christ died for me and for my sins and in 2000 I accepted Christ as my Savior, and I was baptized.
Christian Family she grew up…
When I was three years old, my mother became Christian in the midst of a very difficult time in our family. My father’s business failed, my dad left our family, and I didn’t see him again until I was 12 years old. My mother was so despondent over our family situation that she took me to a local bridge with the intention of committing suicide with me. Miraculously however, the image of a cross suddenly came to my mother. It was a cross on the roof of a church in our area which my mother frequently passed. This unexpected thought kept her from carrying out her intention of suicide, and later my mother and I had the opportunity to visit that church.
When I reached my early teen years, I became very obsessed with trying to please my family and others. Through my tears I prayed to God, “If you truly exist, please rescue me.” At the instance, in prayer, I personally met Christ. I truly understood that I was a sinner, but I also experienced the love of God deeply in my heart. The message of the gospel became true in my heart then, at 12 years old. Around that time my father came back and our family was finally reunited. My father also accepted Jesus Christ is his personal Savior.
This conversion experience changed my personality. I used to cry a lot; but when I understood God’s unconditional love, I was filled with peace and the tears were gone. My family still struggled financially, but I was very happy. Later when I became 18 years old, God gave me a vision and called me to become a missionary in Brazil to poor children.
